Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about AirFLTR

What is AirFLTR?

AirFLTR is a Chrome extension that gives you access to advanced filtering options not available in Airbnb's standard search interface. You can filter by specific amenities, property types, host languages, and more.

How do I use the extension?

1. Navigate to any Airbnb search page

2. Click the extension icon in your browser toolbar

3. Select your desired filters (amenities, price range, property types, etc.)

4. Click "Apply to current tab" to see results immediately, or "Apply and open in new tab" to keep your current search open

What filters are available?

The extension supports:

  • Amenities: WiFi, Air conditioning, Kitchen, Pool, etc.
  • Property Types: Entire place, Private room, Hotel, etc.
  • Host Languages: English, Spanish, French, etc.
  • Price Range: Set minimum and maximum nightly prices
  • Room Requirements: Minimum bedrooms, beds, and bathrooms
How do presets work?

Presets allow you to save and quickly apply commonly used filter combinations. After setting up your filters, enter a name and click "Save". You can then apply these saved presets anytime with a single click.

Why aren't my filters working?

Make sure you're on an Airbnb website (airbnb.com). The extension only works on Airbnb pages. Also, some filters may not return results if there are no properties matching your criteria in the current search area.

Can I use multiple filters at once?

Yes! You can combine any combination of filters. For example, you can search for properties with WiFi, air conditioning, and a pool, that cost between $100-$300 per night, with at least 2 bedrooms.

What's the difference between "Apply to current tab" and "Apply and open in new tab"?

"Apply to current tab": Updates your current Airbnb search page with the new filters.

"Apply and open in new tab": Opens a new tab with the filtered results, keeping your current search page unchanged.

How do I reset all filters?

Click the "Reset filters" button at the top of the popup to clear all selected filters and return to the default state.

Are my presets saved?

Yes! All your presets are automatically saved in your browser and will persist between sessions. They're stored locally in your Chrome browser.

Can I use this on mobile?

Currently, this extension is designed for desktop Chrome browsers. Mobile support may be added in future updates.

Is this extension safe to use?

The extension only reads and modifies Airbnb URLs - it doesn't collect any personal data, track your browsing, or access your Airbnb account information. All data is stored locally in your browser.

Is my data safe?

Absolutely. We don't track your searches or collect personal data. Pro features will use secure cloud storage only for your saved presets, which are encrypted and private to your account.

Why does AirFLTR say it can "read your browsing history"?

AirFLTR does not request the Chrome "history" permission. Chrome sometimes shows this wording when an extension uses the tabs permission, which allows reading the URL/title of the currently open tab. We use it only to read and update your active Airbnb tab's URL so your selected filters are applied. We do not access your historical browsing data.

What permissions does AirFLTR actually request?

activeTab: Act on the current tab after you click the extension (user gesture).

tabs: Read and update the active Airbnb tab's URL or open a new tab to apply filters.

storage: Save your presets and preferences locally (and via Chrome sync if enabled).

Host scope: https://*.airbnb.com/* only.

We do not request history, cookies, or broad, all‑sites access.

Do you track me or collect personal data?

Free features: No analytics or tracking. Presets live in Chrome storage.

Pro features (optional): We collect just enough to manage your license (e.g., email, Stripe subscription metadata). Payment details are handled by Stripe, not by us.

Do you read page content on Airbnb?

No. AirFLTR composes clean URL parameters and updates the Airbnb URL. It doesn't scrape pages or read page content.

Can I use AirFLTR without giving it full access to my browser?

Yes. AirFLTR's permissions are minimal and scoped to Airbnb. The tabs permission is required only to read/update the current Airbnb tab's URL or open a new tab when you click Apply.
